Companies have devoted significant resources to achieving compliance with many pieces of US legislation, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and Gramm-Leach-Bliley. But compliance with external mandates can be more easily met by first ensuring that the network is compliant with the internal security policies upon which the legislative compliance framework is built. Otherwise, companies may be putting their own safety at risk.
