Crimsonwing

Founded in 1996, Crimsonwing is a provider of e-business and commercial systems solutions. It has managed multi-million pound information technology (IT) projects that include software integration and solution development involving third parties and strategic partners.

With headquarters in Fetcham, UK, Crimsonwing offices are situated in the UK, the Netherlands, and Malta. Its solution centre in Malta employs around 100 IT professionals. All IT development processes are International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001: 2000 certified.

Crimsonwing customer solutions have won various awards, including this years UK Channel Network Award and CeBIT's e-Oscar for Immedia, an e-procurement solution for Williams Lea.

Safeway (recently taken over by Morrisons) is another of Crimsonwing's customers. Since 1998, Safeway and Crimsonwing have developed a partnership in software services. Crimsonwing's Malta operation was contracted to develop Safeway systems by acting as an extension of Safeways' IT department. More than 250 application systems projects have been delivered to date, including some long-running projects. Following the takeover, Morrisons has also signed a contract to have Crimsonwing continue to provide application development and support services.

Other clients include Ideal Hardware, Idis Pharmaceuticals, Lloyds Registry, Lakeland, Fraser Eagle, and Touchstone.

European nearshore locations are viewed as a complementary and alternative sourcing option to onshore and offshore locations. It offers a language and culture fit, and in some cases enjoys certain international trade agreements with the client's residing countries. Malta is an ideal nearshore location because it offers significant reduced development and implementation risks and lower hidden costs.

Safeway, the UK's fourth-largest supermarket, spends over £100 million (GBP) a year on their information technology (IT )operations. Five years ago, Safeway transferred its offshoring operations to Malta-based Crimsonwing. Since then, Crimsonwing has undertaken some 200 projects for Safeway, including a sales data warehouse, an intranet portal, and an integrated transport solution designed in conjunction with IBM.
