Will Glovia Glow Again Through Its Hub And VARs? Part 2: Challenges and User Recommendations

While the Fujitsu/Glovia relationship has worked well in Japan, a difficult market for many other ERP vendors to penetrate, it may prove to be quite a different case in other markets. Further, until recently, Glovia’s middle and top management team had long been in a state of flux and often poached by recently higher-flying competitors in the markets it attempts to regain. Further, one cannot help feeling that Glovia’s knowledge of its target market has always been deeper than its market visibility and share.

ERP Vendor Shootout - Redefining the “Shootout” Stereotype

I’m often asked about the “Vendor Shootout” event that appears on the TEC website and marketing calendar. While the term ‘shootout’ may conjure up images of a Wild West scenario - vigilante cowboys taking shots at each other from the shattered windows and tumbleweed strewn, empty streets of a deserted Midwest town - a group of likeminded ERP Value Added Resellers (VARs) in the mid to south East

And what would they really get out of it? After a collective nine hours of information gathering, presentations, keynote speakers and seminars, the Read More

Michael Treacy Focuses on Double Digit Growth

This new book, Double-Digit Growth was one of the most useful and optimistic books to come along in some time. Growth is the whole point of business. Yet many so-called leaders don't seem to have plans to fulfill their purpose. This should be read by all business execs-no matter what your sector.

tri west ltd.  it either requires luck, trial and error, or a growing economy. There is no sense that there is a disciplined way to generate growth. They don''t have a methodology. They think their growth is luck, a good economy, or trial and error. And there are lots of illustrations of that. There is no sense that there is a disciplined way to thrive and grow with confidence, and that is demonstrated by the kind of information systems they have—for example, budget and financial system. You know how budget statements Read More

Easy ERP: A Challenge to Conventional Thinking

There is a new paradigm when it comes to evaluating ERP systems. With little difference between industry players' solutions, the key is the longevity of the system, its usability, and total cost of ownership.

The illustration below represents the text book view of a technology life cycle with a graph that represents the transition point between the market''s technology-centric perspective of a product to a user-centric view. ERP System for Industrial Machinery Manufacturing

A U.S.-based industrial machinery manufacturer was looking for a fully integrated Engineer-to-order (ETO) enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to replace an aging legacy system, including some in-house applications.

To find the right solution, the company turned to TEC for an extended software evaluation and selection project—building a custom requirement set that included components from ETO ERP, ERP for distribution, customer relationship management (CRM), computerized maintenance management system–enterprise asset management (CMMS-EAM), product lifecycle management (PLM), and project portfolio management (PPM) solutions.

Starting with a list of nine qualified solutions, TEC issued requests for information (RFIs) to each of the vendors. Based on the RFI responses, the company was able to compare the nine solutions and develop a shortlist of the four most promising ones for in-depth evaluation.

TEC also helped the company collect market data—a key component of the final selection process.
