A Definition of Data Warehousing
There is a great deal of confusion over the meaning of data warehousing. Simply defined, a data warehouse is a place for data, whereas data warehousing describes the process of defining, populating, and using a data warehouse. Creating, populating, and querying a data warehouse typically carries an extremely high price tag, but the return on investment can be substantial. Over 95% of the Fortune 1000 have a data warehouse initiative underway in some form.

LEAN DEFINITION TCO: Database Log Analysis. Data Cleansing: This is typically performed in conjunction with data acquisition (it can be part of the T in ETL ). A data warehouse that contains incorrect data is not only useless, but also very dangerous. The whole idea behind a data warehouse is to enable decision-making. Reliability Driven Maintenance--Closing the CMMS Value Gap ?Part One: Trends and Definition
The metric of plant maintenance should now be in the ability of the plant to meet the strategic goals of the company beyond customarily expected cost savings, such as improved plant output, performance predictability, product quality, customer service, safety, environmental control, etc.

LEAN DEFINITION TCO: applying the principles of lean manufacturing tells us that any unnecessary maintenance is a waste. That is to say, just like inventory one does not need at a certain time is considered a waste, maintenance tasks done before then they are truly required also constitute a waste. When preventive maintenance tells us it is the time to perform a maintenance routine, the $64,000 question is, could we have waited or eliminated this routine without a negative impact on the asset s ability to meet the business

Moving Beyond Lean Manufacturing to a Lean Supply Chain
Most lean manufacturing deployments target production operations, but can also be extended to other supply chain processes. To realize the multiplicative benefits of real time information and reduced inventory, companies must assess their production environment and supply chain activities.

Perfect Orders: Improving Customer Satisfaction and Financial Results
If you don't measure it, you can't improve it. For owners, the traditional measure is profit. For customer satisfaction, the perfect order index is useful. Manufacturers and distributors must keep two groups satisfied—customers and owners. They are connected—what improves the satisfaction of one group can impact the satisfaction of the other. Only through measuring the satisfaction of both groups can these sometime conflicting groups be balanced. Owners watch earnings and return on investment. One way to measure customer satisfaction is with the perfect order index.

LEAN DEFINITION TCO: Perfect Orders: Improving Customer Satisfaction and Financial Results Perfect Orders: Improving Customer Satisfaction and Financial Results Olin Thompson - January 10, 2011 Read Comments The management of any company has two key groups to satisfy. The first is customers. If your customers are not satisfied, they stop buying your product. The second group is owners (shareholders, co-op members, family, etc). If this group is not satisfied, management is replaced or the business is sold or even shut down.

Lowering Enterprise Software Total Cost of Ownership through an Enterprise Application Training Platform
More than any other factor, ineffective training is responsible for inflating total cost of ownership (TCO) for software investments. Ineffective training approaches include starting too late; assuming go-live is the completion of the project; and failing to teach users about the processes the software is designed to support. Successfully lowering TCO means embracing e-learning, blended training solutions, and web-based simulations.
