Making EMV Work across New Markets
Last fall, when Visa announced plans to drive chip card and mobile payment adoption, the question of whether the US will adopt EMV chip technology was made redundant, with two questions remaining in its place: when and how? By December 31, 2011, more than one million EMV chip-enabled cards had been issued by US financial institutions. MasterCard and Discover have since published their recommendations of how to roll out EMV in the US. With deadlines of between 2013 and 2015, financial institutions need to start planning how to protect their current infrastructure investments while meeting these new requirements cost-effectively. Compass Plus looks at the advantages of making the switch to the EMV standard and offers guidelines for successful implementation.

Human Capital as a Force Multiplier
It can be easy to group “people, process, and technology” together as equal concepts. In reality, however, people, process, and technology do not carry equal weight in organizational design, and they do not require the same type or degree of attention to succeed. Indeed, an organization’s people inevitably serve as a “force multiplier” for the other two elements.

Thou Shalt Manage Human Capital Better
Although the human resources department has long been seen as a necessary evil at best, the scope of human resources management systems (HRMS) has been extended to include recruiting, competency management, training, time management, performance management, and so forth.

CAPITAL MARKETS FIRMS: Thou Shalt Manage Human Capital Better Thou Shalt Manage Human Capital Better P.J. Jakovljevic - September 26, 2006 Read Comments Administrative human resource (HR) management has traditionally received much more lip service than true respect from businesses and individuals. However, many recent events and consequent realizations promise to transform the HR department from a lowly cost center, a necessary evil, and a gaggle of boring pen pushers and record keepers (and other derided whatnots), into a

The Impact and Value of Human Capital Management (HCM) in Today’s Organizations
Many companies believe their employees are their most important asset—and spend significant amounts of money every year on their training and development. But how can these companies quantify what this investment will do to their bottom line? With the right tools, decision makers can gain the critical business intelligence they’ll need to confidently invest in their human capital, and measure and report on its impact.

Talent (Human Capital) Management and Sports? Sign Me Up, Please! – Part 1 » The TEC Blog
has become global and capital is abundant (well, at least it was 10 years ago, well before the recent collapse of banking investment giants, and the US and German government interventions), “…all that matters is talent. Talent wins.” Conversely, during the agricultural and brick-and-mortar age of the 19th century, the economy was based on land, and on truly physical and very tangible assets, whereas people were regarded as a mere labor expense. The industrial age of the 1930 followed with a

The Human Capital Management Market—Hot, but also Overpopulated?

Jakovljevic - September 29, 2006 Read Comments Tactical and administrative human resources (HR) management is morphing into strategic human capital management (HCR). Healthy Savings for Aurora Healthcare: Capital Asset Lifecycle Management
Like many health care providers, Wisconsin (US)-based Aurora faces pressures to improve care quality, while monitoring its bottom line.
